Australia Victorian Desalination Plant The scope of this project is construction and operation of desalination plant with capacity of 444,000 tons/day, 30-year BOT contract under public-private partnership. Samsung C&T participats in a project as an investment arranger to build and operate one of the world’s largest seawater desalination plants in the Australian state of Victoria. Australia's largest desalination plant will be established in the Wonthaggi region providing up to 150 billion liters of water a year to Melbourne, Geelong and, via other connections, South Gippsland and Western Port towns. The project includes an 84-kilometer underground pipeline to connect the plant to a main transfer at Berwick and then to Cardinia Reservoir. The plant will be powered by underground power cables co-located with the pipeline. The desalination plant will use approximately 90 megawatts of electricity from the Victorian energy grid, which will be offset through the purchase of renewable energy credits sourced by AquaSure, a special purpose company established for the project through AGL. · The plant will be constructed and operated through a public-private partnership. The Victorian Government selected the AquaSure consortium, consisting of Suez Environment, Degremont, Thiess and Macquarie Capital Group, to build and operate the desalination plant. AquaSure has committed to the following additional features and projects to ensure Victoria's desalination plant is the most advanced of its kind in Australia: - Secure underground power supply - Commitment to renewable energy projects to offset the plant's energy use, including a new wind farm at Oakland Hills - Continued access to Williamsons Beach, which is adjacent to the plant site - The best possible visual amenity at the site, including low-profile, grass-covered buildings and planting of hundreds of thousands of trees and shrubs - Significant benefit to the local community such as new broadband fiber optic cable and secure local water supply Following preparation of an Environment Effects Statement and community consultation in 2008, construction of the plant began in September 2009 with an aim to deliver water by the end of 2011. Samsung C&T participates in one of the world’s largest seawater desalination projects, as part of the AquaSure consortium formed by leading companies in their respective fields, including Suez Environnement, a world leader exclusively dedicated to environmental services; Degremont, water specialist for Suez Environnement; Thiess, a leading Australian construction and civil engineering company; and Macquarie Capital Group, a world leading financial and infrastructure project finance advisory firm. Samsung C&T’s role in the project can be highlighted as follows: - Organizing and leading Korean financial investors’ consortium - Investing share in the form of equity and subordinated debt along with Korean financial investors - Supporting the increase in loans provided by banks with successful arrangement of loan insurance of K-Sure, one of the two largest export credit agencies in Korea

Ghana Tema Oil Refinery This project called TOR is an expansion and modernization project for the existing refinery and installation of Residue fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) unit to process heavy oil products into light oil products. Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) is the only oil refinery in Ghana, West Africa. It is fully owned by the government of Ghana and it entered into operation in 1963 with an initial capacity of 28,000bpsd. In 1994, the government of Ghana entered into an agreement with the consortium of Samsung C&T and SK E&C to implement expansion and modernization program for the existing refinery to increase its capacity to 45,000bpsd. Samsung and SK also successfully carried out phase 2 of revamping which involves installation of an additional unit - a residue fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) unit with capacity of about 14,000bpsd. 85% of the EPC cost will be financed by Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) and commercial banks covered by K-Sure. TOR and the consortium have entered into a finance agreement and a long-term off-take agreement with Vitol. SK E&C performed operation and maintenance (O&M) as well as EPC.
